Take...luck! Take luck and care. Take care of the luck. Good luck taking care of the luck that you might have...if you have luck, take it, care for it. TAKE LUCK CARE OF IN IT WHEN YOU TAKE LUCK CARE OF IN IT

I'm a displaced Southern girl. I once ate eight bowls of Cheerios so I could get the nutrition of one bowl of Total. A friend and I rented movies at Blockbuster because we forgot we didn't have a VCR. When I was nine, I tried teaching my dog to speak – English. Bees don't scare me, but every other type of bug does. I once considered selling my wedding dress for 75 boxes of Girl Scout cookies. My husband and I argue more about punctuation than we do about anything else. Any other burning questions, just ask!

New Home for Puppy

OK, so we're taking our puppy, Milky, to a foster home tonight, where she'll stay until she gets a new permanent home.

We knew labs were high-energy dogs, but we didn't anticipate HOW high energy she would be, and we also didn't anticipate how much her size was going to compound that. She's very playful, but she's beginning to terrorize our children because she's almost as big as they are. The girls don't play with her anymore because they're starting to be afraid of her.

We fenced in our backyard so she could run around and burn off some energy, but she's too scared to go out by herself. We can't be out with her for long periods of time because either Kelly is inside unsupervised, or she comes outside and gets repeatedly knocked to the ground and bitten about the head by Milky. Either way, not good.

SO ... we're taking her to a foster home tonight.

We want to get a new (smaller) dog, but it might not be right away. We're not of one mind on how long we should wait before getting a new puppy. (Anyone who knows me well can guess what MY opinion is on waiting!)

I hate being an irresponsible dog owner -- I know lots of people get animals and then arbitrarily give them away again, and I like to think we're more responsible than that. It may not look like it right now, but what can I say? We didn't know she was going to be so overwhelming to the kids.

Silly as it may sound, please pray that Milky finds a great home fast!!

I'm sorry that it didn't work out. Have you considered adopting an older puppy (or adult dog) from your local pet rescue? They can provide insight as to any behavior problems, energy level, interaction with kids, etc. I have been so pleased with my experience with Sheba. Usually they give you a trial week, so there's no guilt if things don't work out.

Oh Lisa, I was afraid of that. Labs are large dogs and I wondered how she would be around Kelly and the baby. We have a Boston Terrier. They stay small, don't have long hair to groom, and have a gently spirit. I pray that Milky finds a good home that she can fit in to and be loved.
