Take...luck! Take luck and care. Take care of the luck. Good luck taking care of the luck that you might have...if you have luck, take it, care for it. TAKE LUCK CARE OF IN IT WHEN YOU TAKE LUCK CARE OF IN IT

I'm a displaced Southern girl. I once ate eight bowls of Cheerios so I could get the nutrition of one bowl of Total. A friend and I rented movies at Blockbuster because we forgot we didn't have a VCR. When I was nine, I tried teaching my dog to speak – English. Bees don't scare me, but every other type of bug does. I once considered selling my wedding dress for 75 boxes of Girl Scout cookies. My husband and I argue more about punctuation than we do about anything else. Any other burning questions, just ask!

As Seen on TV

Now I know Heather is growing up.

I remember when she was only interested in Playhouse Disney or Nick Jr., and the only commercials I had to worry about were for upcoming TV shows.

Then she graduated to "big kids' shows," complete with commercials for toys. She never knew how deprived she was until she started seeing commercials for a smorgasboard of toys that she didn't have. I heard all about Ele-Fun and Whack-a-Mole and innumerable Polly Pocket and My Little Pony toys. "It even has a magic wand," she'd yell, adding in a sad tone, "but batteries are not included."

Well, now she's bigger. She's started watching Animal Planet more often. Her new favorite show is "Awesome Pawsome," a one-hour documentary on a theme park in Australia and the four tiger cubs born there. She's explained to me that tigers are endangered, that most are born with their eyes closed but these had their eyes slightly open, that the dads don't help raise the babies in the wild, and so on. She's the resident expert on tigers these days.

But she also watches the commercials. I thought she forwarded through them (thank God for TiVo!), but apparently that's not always the case.

I found this out when she asked me if she could save her allowance to buy "Pancake Puffs." "It's only-" she ran back in to check the TV screen "-$19.99!" She then explained to me, very seriously, that she would need my help because "you have to order it online." "But it's great for parties!" she told me, "and you can even make brownies!"

On Friday, when we were leaving to drop Janna off, I got in the car just in time to hear Heather tell Janna how much she wants the Buxton Organizer. "It even comes with a digital reminder." She continued to extol its virtues later to me later that night. "It comes in three colors -- black, yellow, and red." "You can put in two water bottles!" "Mom, there's even room for an umbrella!"

Ahh, how I miss the days when all she needed was the latest acts-just-like-a-real-pet stuffed animal.

Haha, sounds like she will make a great marketing manager. At least she has time to find out that things are not always as they seem. I think I would keep her away from the home shopping channels. ;)

This is so cute. I haven't been able to stop thinking about this story over the past few days. She certainly is growing up quickly.

I remember those days...Wait, I'm still living IN those days! Every once in a while, there's something that's ever so tempting!

It's good to see a post from you--I've been wondering how you and yours are. Probably super busy, I'm sure! I'm not all that busy, but I'm moving back home this summer. Drop me a line if you have the time.
